How long of a message can my display hold?

When your display first turns on, it displays a number (1088 for example). This is the frame capacity (1088 frames). A frame can contain either bitmap images, AVI files, or text.

What is a display ID?

The display ID is a number assigned to the CPU inside your display. Most of the time, the display ID will be 1 unless your displays are wired parallel, in that situation it would be nesassary to give each display a different ID (1 & 2 for example). This is common in double sided displays. The current ID is displayed following the Firmware type during power-up.

What is a Baud Rate? And what is my display's Baud Rate?

A Baud Rate is the unit in which the information carrying capacity or "signalling rate" of a communication channel is measured. One baud is one symbol (state-transition or level-transition) per second. 99% of all Hi*Tech displays use 19200 Baud Rate the only other option as far as Hi*Tech is concerned is 57600, and again, this is rare.

How do I know I am using the right cable to communicate with my Display?

Our displays are wired to communicate through a standard DB9 serial cable wired 1 to 1 (pin #1 to pin #1) for direct 232 comunication.

How do I find out my display dimensions?

Using Complay, click the "Get Display Info" speed button. This will return all kinds of information.
