Changes in Daylight Savings Time
that Might Impact your HiTech

Do you need to
update your HiTech Display?
Hi-Tech has provided information
about the effects of this change
on their products on our website
in order to enable our customers
to deal with this change. Also,
please visit
www.microsoft.com
and download the update files
Microsoft recommends in order to
correct the time zone changes in
your version of Windows. If
your PC has the capability of
accessing Windows Update,
perform all
available updates
as this is one of them.
Do you use
WinPlay software to communicate
to your display?
If you are using
WinPlay software to control a
HiTech HX-2 display, the Display
time is controlled solely by the
Microsoft Windows operating
system. Aside from the above
Windows Updates, no further
changes should be necessary.
Do you use
Complay 3.0 or Complay 3.5 to
communicate to your display?
If you connect to
your display via Complay 3.0 or
Complay 3.5; you will need to
manually update the display time
after the Daylight Savings time
changes have occurred.

First, verify that your
Windows time is updated and
displaying the correct time.

Then, open your Complay
software, right-click on
your current display and
select “Edit” from the
Context menu.
(Alternatively, you can get
to the same screen by going
to “Tools” and
“Options/Settings” in the
main menu of Complay.

In the upper-right corner is
an on/off switch for
Daylight Savings Time.
-
Choose the “Off” selection.
-
Next to this is an on/off
switch for “Apply Options on
Get Info”.
-
Choose the “On” selection.
-
If your display is in a
different time zone, select
the appropriate time zone
adjustment.

For example, if the time
zone for the display is an
hour ahead, choose +1. If
it is an hour behind, choose
-1.
-
Then click the “OK” button.

Next, Select “Display” on
the text menu and select
“Get Info”.
-
Once this process has
completed, the display
should show the correct
time.

You will need to repeat this
process for any other
displays that you have.
Do you use
Complay 2000, Complay 1.70, or
an earlier version to
communicate to your display?
If you use
Complay 2000, Complay 1.70 or
any earlier versions;
you will need to
manually update the display time
after
the Daylight Savings time
changes have occurred.

First, verify that your
Windows time is updated and
displaying the correct time.

Then, open your Complay
software and on the Menu,
click “Options” and
“Settings”.

Click on the “Display
Settings” Tab (If applicable
in your version).
-
Set the “Daylight Savings”
option to “Off”.
-
Set the “Apply Options on
Get Info” option to “On”.

If your display is in a
different time zone, select
the appropriate time zone
adjustment.

For example, if the time
zone for the display is an
hour ahead, choose +1. If
it is an hour behind, choose
-1.
-
Then click “OK”.
-
Next, Select “Transmit” (Complay
2000) or “File” (Complay
1.7) on the text menu and
“Get Display Info”.

Once this process has
completed, the display
should show the correct
time.

You will need to repeat this
process for any other
displays that you have.
Do you have a
HiTech Time and Temp display?
If you have a
HiTech Time and Temp display
which operates via a wired
toggle switch; you can simply
advance the time forward or
backward an hour as appropriate.
In order for your
display to update automatically,
you can call your HiTech
customer service representative
for a firmware update that can
be emailed to you to install in
your display (1.800.723.9402).
Please note that you will need a
sign company to physically open
the display, and connect to it
with a laptop via a special
RS232 cable to update the
firmware.
If you operate
your Time and Temp display via a
12-button
silver remote control:
-
Press the “SET” button.
-
Enter your 6-digit password.
-
Press the “Enter” button
repeatedly until you see
“dL:0F” or “dL:On”.
-
If your display shows
“dL:OF” then press the “SET”
button; you are done.

If your display shows
“dL:On” then press the “0”
button until the display
shows “dL:On”.

Press the “Enter” button
repeatedly again until you
see the time displayed.

Edit the time by entering
the current time in 24-hour
manner.

After you do not press any
keys for a few seconds, the
display will resume normal
operations and should now
show the correct time.
